GCC the Sequel, Pizza Hut GCC and GCC Pitbulls, last evening, secured championships after the conclusion of the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Under-19 and Second Division Development League at the Saint Stanislaus College (SHC) ground on Carifesta Avenue.
GCC the Sequel was the league’s men’s second division winner, edging out Old Forte on goal difference after both teams ended the league on 25 points. GCC however, recorded 27 strikes pass the upright, one more than the second-place winner. Bounty GCC came in third after recording 18 points.
On the individual side, Dwayne Scott of GCC the Sequel was awarded the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) while Shameer Bhagwandin of Hikers Cadets copped the best goalkeeper award. Scoring the most goals was Philip Fernandes who finished with 17 goals.
Meanwhile, Pizza Hut GCC ran away with the female second division title, finishing top of the table with 22 points. Bingo Spartans came in second with 13 points as Woodpecker Hikers completed the podium line up with 10 points.
Individual awards went to Pizza Hut Gcc’s Sarah Klautky who was crowned MVP while Donyale Nurse of Saints was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the league. Meanwhile, Carina Moller’s 15 goals were the most of the league.
The Boys under – 19 title went to GCC Pitbulls who finished with 34 points, six more than second place Hikers while Joseph’s Warriors came in third after accumulating 22 points.
Individual awards went to Kareem Mckenzie of GCC who earned the MVP and the most goals (16) award while Warriors’ Paul D’andrade was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
