Dear Editor,
As a citizen, I face the disappointment of, I guess, other citizens in trying to obtain a simple phone battery. Having been unable to do so, I incurred the expense of purchasing another phone. The cheapest was well over $8,000.
I ask the question, why would importers/dealers of cell phones choose to bring in such commodities without also importing the accessories?
Big companies, Digicel in particular, markets a brand of phone for which no replacement battery can be found in Georgetown. I did not check the Berbice and Essequibo towns to find that brand of battery.
I also find it rather puzzling that these phone shacks sell phones, USB cables, ear plugs, power banks, phone jackets, SIM cards, selfie sticks and even phone chargers, without selling batteries for the brands of phones that they sell.
I am not sure that this prevails at GTT and its phone shacks. But I think so.
Unwary customers, like myself, will always be at the receiving end in order to get wise.
I urge those who are thinking of purchasing cell phones, find out whether batteries for particular brands of phones are easily available before purchasing one.
Yours faithfully,
