Saints Scalpels and GCC Thunder captured the under 13 and 10 mixed division titles respectively in the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Junior National Indoor Hockey Championships, last evening at the National Gymnasium.
Saints Scalpels captured the under – 13 title by defeating Saints Scorchers 3-2 in the final.
Converting for the champions were Collin McDonald who netted twice and Davrious Alleyne while Scorchers’ Javid Hussain netted both goals for his side.
The under – 10 title was played on a round-robin basis with Thunders coming out on top.
Meanwhile, on the individual side, Clayza Bobb of Scorchers and Barana Garnett of team UZZI were adjudged the female and male Most Valuable Players (MVP) while the under – 10 MVP awards went to Christina Fernandes and Kayson Gomes both of Thunder. SimCon Engineering sponsored the under – 13 leg of the championships.
Play in the under – 16 and 21 categories continued last evening and will see the semi-final and finals being played today to bring the curtains down on the Championships.
