Pacesetters secured wins over Eagles in the first and second divisions when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA} ‘League Championship’ continued on Saturday at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael Streets.
The home side grounded Eagles 78-73. Experienced point guard Dave Causway tallied 24 points in the victory while Michael Turner and Travis Williams were next on the scorer’s sheet with 13 and 12 points each.
Supporting with seven, six, five and five points respectively were Tafawa Daly, Nathan Saul, Jermaine Hamilton and Stephon Gillis.
For Eagles, rising star Travis Belgrave battled to a game-high 25 points. He was supported by Mark Richards, Mark Wills and Ryan Gullen, scorers of 16, 12 and 10 points respectively. In the second division, Pacesetters downed Eagles 73-59. Mark Rose top scored with 17 points, with Troy David and Zion Gray the next best scorers with 14 points each.
The trident of Jude Corlette, George Yearwood and Quincy DosSantos chipped in with nine, seven and seven points respectively. For the loser, Sherlon Gillis tallied a game high 19 points, while Suresh Dhanram, Shamar Huntley and Devon Murray netted nine, nine and seven points apiece. The tournament continues on Wednesday at the same venue with another double-header.
