A century from Randy Hemraj was the highest score on the first day of the Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club/Banks Beer 100-ball tournament that saw Strathavon beating Beehive by 93 runs Sunday at their home venue.
At Strathavon, the home team took first strike and posted 179 with Hemraj blasting 11 fours and five sixes. He was supported by Mohan Ronald (30). In reply, Beehive were restricted to 96-9 with Dinesh Vivikanand top scoring with 31.
Hemraj and Ronald returned with the ball to pick up three wickets each for 10 and 13 runs respectively.
Earlier, at the same venue, Strathavon easily defeated Mahaica who collapsed for 31 all out in 69 balls as Kevin Latiff (4-4) and Ganesh Sugrim (2-4) ripped the batting line up to shreds.
Strathavon required just 24 balls to reach 37 without loss with Sugrim unbeaten on 20.
Enterprise B had a mixed day losing to Lusignan A at Lusignan but bouncing back to beat Enmore B at Enterprise.
At Lusignan, the home team climbed to 190-6 with Robin Williams top scoring with 65 while V. Ramjeet supported with 59. R. Mohammed picked up 3-27. In the chase, Enterprise B were limited to 113-4 with H. Sukdeo and N. Ulla scoring 34 and 46 runs respectively.
At Enterprise, the visitors were sent in to bat where they were confined to 96-5 from their allotted balls with S. Yainarine finishing on 30 not out. Ulla bagged 3-21. M. Balkissoon carved 39 and K. Mohammed, 19 to ensure Enterprise B reached 97-4.
At Lusignan, Lusignan B raced to 126-5 with S. Alli (42) and D. Samaroo (29) being the main scorers while La Bonne Intention were skittled out for 68 with F. Kadir picking up 2-10 in the 58-run win.
Lusignan East were not so fortunate, losing to Enmore A by 75 runs at Enmore.
Enmore batted first and posted 123-8 with A. Khan and Y. Dyal scoring 38 and 39 runs respectively. S. Sahadeo took 3-6. Lusignan East were restricted to 48 all out with K. Jailall being the only batsman to reach double figures in his knock of 21.
Dyal and R. Hiralall managed three wickets a piece.
Earlier in the day at Enmore, Mahaica Cavaliers lost by nine runs to Enmore A. Enmore A batted first, posting 131-8 with V. Ramkelawan top scoring with 32 and R. Singh supporting with 21. N. Persaud, P. Chouti and Q. Holder picked up two wickets each. Mahaica Cavaliers in reply scored 122-8 despite K. Fraser (34) and D. Persaud (15) giving them a first wicket stand of 47. Dyal snared three wickets.
Fairfield were dominant at their home beating Beehive and Mahaica Sports Club by seven wickets.
Against Beehive, the visitors were asked to bat first and managed 92-7 with H. Samlall top scoring with 36.
Romel Chatura and W. Byrne copped two wickets each. In reply, Chatura was brutal in his knock of 43 to see the hosts reach 93-3.
In the final contest, Mahaica SC reached 124-6 with the brothers of Yeudister and Darshan Persaud scoring 43 and 40 respectively.
Chatura took 3-17. Fairfield once again aced the chase with Y. Mustapha’s 51 steering them to 126-3 in 69 balls.
