Abdool Razack followed up his half century by capturing four wickets as McGill Sports Club defeated All Youths Sports Club by 69 runs in the West Demerara Cricket Association President’s Cup 50 over tournament at Canal No. 2 Sports Club on Sunday.
McGill won the toss and took first strike, but were bundled out for 183 in 36.2 overs. In reply, All Youths were rolled over for 114 in 35.4 overs.
Razack was the main contributor taking 60 balls for his 54 with five fours and a long six over long on that brought up his half century. He, however, fell the very next delivery.
Razack shared in a 54-run partnership with Shafiek Deen (20) while Sudesh Persaud carved three boundaries on his way to 22 from 42 balls before being bowled by Budhan Baksh in the 15th over.
McGill continued to lose wickets, with their lower order imploding as their last six wickets fell for just 30 runs.
Narindra Persaud (3-38), Ganesh Persaud (2-24) and Baksh (2-26) were the wicket takers.
Razack returned with his off spin to bamboozle the All Youth batting line up to finish with 4-6 from nine overs while left arm spinner, Daniel Basdeo (4-7) and Deen (2-14) ripped the batting in half
Travis Whyte was the only resistance with a fighting 37.
Razack ripped through their top order with the first victim being Sanjay Persaud who was caught at cover by a stunner from Prahalad Singh.
Deen then bowled Randy Ramroop and Colwyn Benn for 11 and 12 respectively to leave All Youth 4-25.
Razack then trapped Ganesh Persaud for 10 leg before wicket, bowled Jadesh Persaud and had Anthony Corrington caught at slip, both without scoring as All Youths crawled to 45-7 at the 20th over.
Travis Whyte and Navindra Persaud then added 60 for the eighth wicket partnership before left-arm seamer Basdeo retuned and had Whyte caught for 37 off of 55 balls including three sixes and one four. He also bowled Navindra Persaud with his next delivery for 10 off of 30 balls.
