A mother of ten children, who resides in Kitty, was yesterday remanded over the trafficking of cannabis and ecstasy.
Judith Alexander, on October 15th, 2018 at 109 D’Andrade Street, Georgetown, allegedly had in her possession 410 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same place, she had 24 methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking.
The 53-year-old woman, who appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, pleaded not guilty to the allegations made against her.
The police prosecutor objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offences.
According to their facts, on the day in question, ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit, acting on information, contacted Alexander and identified themselves. A search was then carried out in the home, where they found a suitcase with what appeared to be cannabis inside. Police then searched a cupboard and found colourful pills, which appeared to be ecstasy.
Alexander was then told of the offences and was charged.
The woman was remanded and will return to court on November 7th, for her hearing.
