Transport Sports Club suffered a 50-run defeat to Georgetown ECO Champs in the Georgetown Cricket Association/Friends of Cricket 100 overs U17 tournament.
Playing at the relatively small Gandhi Youth Organisation ground, Transport Sports Club was schooled by the newly formed Georgetown ECO Champs.
Batting first at the Woolford Avenue ground, Eco Champs were dismissed for 207 in 33.4 overs. They then restricted Transport to 159 in 39.2 overs.
Experience and execution were two crucial factors in the contest with the Eco Champs batsmen not doing a lot apart from small cameos. Extras provided a major contribution with an even half century while Briyon Bowen top scored with the bat with 25.
Lennox Philadelphia and national U17 cricketer Dwain Dick each chipped in with 22 runs.
Alvin Mohabir and Riyad Latif lead the wickets column with three wickets apiece for 27 and 42 runs respectively. Trevon Charles was also among the wickets, picking up 2-45.
In reply, spirited efforts from Charles and Jeffery Blair with scores of 38 and 36 respectively were not enough as the disciplined bowling effort from Eco Champs was led by Mohamed Jameer who picked up 4-32. There were 21 extras.
Bowen (2-33) and Dick (2-35) returned with the ball to cap off good all-round performances.
