A 31-year-old shopkeeper is now nursing a gunshot wound to his left hand after he was attacked on Thursday evening.
Taffy Adams, a resident of Lot 1031 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after the attack.
His condition is currently listed as stable.
A police source confirmed the shooting, which took place around 8 pm on Thursday.
The source said an investigation has since been launched. But no arrest was made up to last evening.
Stabroek News was told that the attack unfolded while Adams was returning home from a shop in Paradise Housing Scheme.
This newspaper understands that Adams was on a bicycle when he noticed a Silver Grey Toyota 212 motor car, occupied by six men, drive up alongside him. He subsequently heard an explosion and felt a pain in his left arm. Adams collapsed and was picked up by villagers and taken to the Enmore Police Outpost after which he was transported to the GPH.
