China, US in war of words over Latin America

SHANGHAI,  (Reuters) – Chinese state media sharply criticised U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo today after he made comments in Latin America warning about the hidden risks of seeking Chinese investment amid a growing battle for influence in the region.

Jamaica Powerless in Cases where Children are Abducted and Taken Overseas

(Jamaica Gleaner) Child Protection and Family Services Agency’s legal officer, Nichole Chambers, has said that the failure of key countries such as the United States, United Kingdom and Canada to recognise Jamaica’s ratification of the Child Abduction Convention of 1980 limits how much the agency can do to rectify cases where children have been abducted and taken to foreign countries by a parent.

Carter, Springer help Pride down leaders Scorpions

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Left-hander Jonathan Carter notched his fourth half-century to become the tournament’s leading run-scorer while seamer Shamar Springer claimed his maiden five-wicket haul, but Barbados Pride’s 39-run victory Saturday over Group B leaders Jamaica Scorpions was of academic importance only as they missed out on a semi-final spot in the Regional Super50.

A cracking century from Andrew Lyght Jr, spearheaded a 224-run win for the Police Sports Club (PSC) over Third Class in this weekend’s lone Georgetown Cricket Association (GSA), New Building Society (NBS) second division forty overs contest at PSC, yesterday.   PSC who began the day ideally by winning the toss, elected to take the first strike on a decent batting surface, posting a formidable 313 before being dismissed off the final ball of  the 40th over.   His (Lyght Jr.,)

Gov’t seeking extra $19M for relief operations
