A stacked line up of local and overseas beauties rocking, stilettos, bikinis and sporting toned physiques are set to do battle at ‘Stage of Champions’ on November 3 at the Theatre Guild.
This is according to organizer of the event, Videsh Sookram who spoke to Stabroek Sport yesterday.
Sookram noted that the Ms. Bikini segment of the third annual fixture is set to feature Guyana’s reigning Ms. Bikini champion, Chandini Khan, Antigua’s, Melissa Seaforth and three females from Suriname.
Jennifer Gordon, third place finisher at this year’s local Novices championship is also expected to grace the stage.
“You can expect a high standard in the Ms. Bikini category” Sookram said yesterday. He added that iron sharpens iron and expects a fierce competition on show day.
He stated that along with the bikini athletes, he is optimistic that recently crowned bodybuilding and men’s physique champions, Kerwin Clarke and Emmerson Campbell will compete on stage.
The organizer also made an appeal for other corporate entities for support.
“We are still looking for sponsors so we can give some more incentives to the athletes but I am sure the corporate community will support once we start getting the word out there,” said Sookram.
Last year, the bodybuilding, physique and bikini champions took home $250,000, $100,000 and $100,000 respectively.
The second and third place finishers in bodybuilding secured $130,000 and $100,000 while the first and second runners up in physique and bikini pocketed $50,000 and $25,000 in that order.
