Five pump stations are to be constructed in four different regions for a total sum of approximately $985 million and the Ministry of Agriculture has invited firms to bid for the projects.
In an advertisement published in the October 17th edition of Stabroek News, the Ministry, through the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), invited suitably qualified and experienced bidders to tender for the construction of pump stations in Regions Two, Three, Four, and Five.
The project will be divided into five lots and will see the construction of two pump stations in Region 4 at Hope and Nooten Zuil on the East Coast of Demerara with the engineer’s estimate for this lot tagged at $234 million and $232 million respectively.
In Region Two, the site for the new pump station is Devonshire Castle with the cost pegged at approximately $220 million. Regions Three and Five will have new pump stations constructed at Den Amstel and Mora Point with the cost pegged at $245 million and $263 million respectively.
The bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding procedures that have been specified in the Procurement Act of 2004. Interested bidders can inspect the bidding documents and obtain further information from the Procurement Office at the NDIA during normal working hours at the Guyana Sugar Corporation compound in La Bonne Intention after paying a non-refundable fee of $5,000.
The bids will then be opened in the presence of the bidders or their representatives at 9am on November 6 at the Boardroom of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board at the Ministry of Finance.
The advertisement added that all the bids must be accompanied by valid compliance certificates from the Manager of the National Insurance Scheme and the Commissioner of the Guyana Revenue Authority, along with a bid security that amounts to the value specified in the bid document with respect to each individual project. Bidders will not be awarded more than two projects.
