Following what has been described as “months of investigation” involving local, regional and international authorities, Guyanese businessman Shervington ‘Big Head’ Lovell was arrested along with two others on Thursday morning at the Normal Manley Inter-national Airport in Jamaica on drug trafficking charges.

Marooners grab spot in final

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados,  CMC – The Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners qualified for their second final in a regional competition when they shocked title favourites Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by seven wickets in the second semifinal of the Regional Super50 at Kensington Oval here yesterday.

Guyana Softball Cup 8 underway 

The eighth edition of the annual Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) international softball cup, bowled off yesterday at a number of venues across the City.   Results emerging from the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) saw a number of exciting contests as Ontario Masters out of Canada sent a stern message to their counterparts in the Masters over-45 category after notching up two major wins.   The Canadian side first crushed Narine Masters by 52 runs at the end of their high scoring contest.

Entrench legislative protection for Natural Resources Fund

The legislation for Guyana’s proposed Natural Resources Fund (NRF) should be safeguarded by requiring a two-thirds parliamentary majority for alterations, according to chartered accountant and attorney Christopher Ram, who says in the current political climate laws could be undone by a slim majority with a change of government.

PUNE, India, CMC – West Indies head coach Stuart Law has praised his side’s batting performance in the One Day International (ODI) series against India, saying that the home side has been forced to bring back their two best bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the third ODI which begins here today.

CCJ to deliver ruling in cross-dressing case on Tuesday

Dear Editor, On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 14:00 hours, Trinidad and Tobago time, Guyana’s final court of appeal, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), will deliver its decision in McEwan and others v Attorney General of Guyana, the case which challenged the constitutionality of a law that criminalizes wearing attire of a different gender in public for an “improper purpose.”
