Video footage of the assault of Palm Court nightclub patron Romario Baljeet has surfaced.
Two videos of the attack, which were recorded by surveillance cameras at the club, have been uploaded and shared on Facebook.
In one of the videos, it appears that gunshots were also fired in front of the Georgetown nightclub.
In the same video, which was time stamped 2.17 am, Imran Khan, the suspect, who has since turned himself in, can be seen standing in front of a car at the club’s exit with a group of men.
The video showed persons entering the car and as the car was about to drive off, a man was seen firing punches at an individual. Seconds later, a man was seen punching Baljeet as he attempted to crawl away from him. The video also showed that a man attempted to restrain the man from attacking Baljeet.
In the second video, a man was seen punching Baljeet vigorously. Baljeet fell to the ground and as he tried to escape from the attack, the man began kicking him in the abdomen.
At no point in the video were the club’s security guards seen intervening.
Khan, Stabroek News was told remains in police custody. Accompanied by his lawyer, Khan turned himself over to the police on Monday.
Baljeet, 21, called ‘Short Boss,’ of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was brutally attacked as he was leaving the club.
In a Facebook post on Sunday morning, Baljeet claimed that his attacker beat him with a gun. Following the attack, Baljeet was rushed to a private city hospital for medical attention. At the hospital, he received stiches for a laceration to his face.
