(JAMAICA OBSERVER) The police are reporting that a man was arrested and charged on Monday after he turned up at a medical facility in Falmouth, Trelawny where a pound of cocaine was extracted from his stomach in an emergency operation.
Charged with the offences of possession of cocaine and dealing in cocaine, is 52-year-old Daniel Reid, a construction worker of Whitehouse in Westmoreland.
Reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) are that about 9:00 am, Reid attended the medical facility and based on his complaints an emergency operation was conducted which resulted in the drug being found.
The drug, which is said to have an estimated street value of $550,000, was handed over to the police and Reid placed under police guard.
The CCU said he is now to appear before the Trelawny Parish Court on January 3, next year.
