Reliance Hustlers, Reliance Sports Club, Queenstown Sports Club and Imam Bacchus Sports Club are through to the semifinals of the Central Essequibo Cricket Committee 20/20 competition.
In final round matches played last Sunday, Hustlers defeated Affiance Sports Club by five wickets while Imam Bacchus SC beat Queenstown SC by 23 runs.
Playing at the Affiance Ground, Affiance won the toss, batted and struggled to 89-5 from their quota of overs.
Badesh Parsotam was the top scorer, hitting two boundaries during his cameo of 24 while Zama Ally made 20. Extras accounted for 25 runs.
J. Frazer and Travis Simon took 3-20 and 3-15 respectively.
In reply, Hustlers reached 90-5 from 65 deliveries. Mark Austin smashed an unbeaten 44 with two sixes and six fours while B. Narine supported with 18.
Arvin Promlall and Shazim Mohamed took 2-25 and 2-10 respectively.
At the Imam Bacchus Ground, Imam Bacchus SC climbed to 143-7 in the match reduced to 15 overs due to a late start. Queenstown reached 125-5 in their reply.
Imam Bacchus, sent in, saw Nathan Persaud dismissed for 49 with two sixes and four fours while Yogeshwar Lall (28) and Latchman Rohit (26 not out), lent support.
Akil Wallace took 3-24.
Queenstownโs batting was led by Herry Green with 29 and Mervin Seymour with 25 but no other batsmen got going and the 26 extras was the next highest contribution. Rohit returned to take 3-10.
Imam Bacchus SC will tackled Reliance SC and Hustlers will take on Queenstown SC in the semifinals.
