Major wins by second division clubs playing in the GTT National Indoor Hockey Championships, highlighted the third evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) last evening.
Hikers Young Guns were the first to dish out 4-2 win aginst Phoenix after Sharmere Garnett and Tivesaird Garnett scored two goals each to spearhead the win.
Terrence Shaw and Anthony Cole were the men to score the goals for Phoenix.
Old Fort Rogue, on the other hand, went Past SHC Sensations 3-0 in the second male second division contest of the night.
Ivor Thompson, Dwayne Alleyne and Chris low were the men to score. GBTI GCC Spice meanwhile downed Old Fort Goal Chasers also by a 3-0 score line in the lone female second division match of the night.
Dominique De Groot, Vanessa Pires and Amalya Clarke on this occasion were the scorers.
However, Old Fort Mustangs and GCC Vintage treated the fans to a thrilling high scoring match in the veterans category with the former coming out on top 7-5.
The contest was tied at 2-2 at the half but Mustangs had other ideas and sped away in the closing minutes and claimed their win on the back of five conversions from John Abrahams while Ivor Thompson netted the other two goals for the winners.
Vintage was always kept in the hunt by Alan Fernandes who scored a hat trick and received support from Philip Fernandes and Keven Spencer who both scored one each.
The women’s first division contest between Old Fort Team 2.1.2 and Saints ended with the former winning 3-2.
