Unbeaten Eagles mauled Silver Shattas 4-1, while undefeated Net-rockers edged Winners Connection 1-0 when the Upper Demerara Football Association [UDFA] Senior League resumed on Wednesday, at the Mackenzie Sports Club [MSC] ground, Linden.
Recent recruit and former Silver Shattas ace Colwyn Drakes commenced the rout compliments of a third-minute conversion. Drakes was a thorn in the side of his former side once more, sealing his quick-fire double via an eighth minute strike.
The lopsided contest continued once more in front of the small crowd that descended on the venue, as Kelon Primo etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 23rd minute.
The score remain unchanged heading into the half time interval. However, akin to Drakes, the nippy Primo recorded his second of the evening, as he found the back of the net in the 77th minute.
Damion Williams eventually registered a consolation goal for the struggling Silver Shattas outfit, scoring in the 89th minute.
Meanwhile, Net-rockers secured the hard-fought result, as Clarence Huggins made his presence felt in the 28th minute.
On Sunday October 28th at the same venue, Topp XX and Botofago battled to a 1-1 stalemate, while Amelia’s Ward Panthers clawed past High Stars 1-0.
The tournament continues today at the same venue. At 18:00hrs, Net-rockers will oppose Blueberry Hill, while Amelia’s Ward Panthers will tackle Topp XX from 20:00hrs.
On Sunday November 4th, another doubleheader will be staged at the same location. Botofago will oppose Silver Shattas at 18:00hrs, while High Stars will engage Eagles from 20:00hrs.
