The Guyana Football Federation [GFF] in collaboration with the Guyana Football Coaches Association, this weekend staged a two-day preparatory training session for the impending CONCACAF D-Licence course.
The preparatory session was conducted by GFCA President Sampson Gilbert and it consisted of classroom sessions and practical assignments.
Gilbert during brief remarks said, “This weekend has been about training coaches to understand what is required to achieve the CONCACAF ‘D’ Licence – to educate and enlighten the coaches to really bridge that gap and to enhance their ability to have a higher pass rate.”
According to Gilbert, “Over the last two years, with this GFF administration and Technical Director Ian Greenwood, we have gone from zero licensed coaches to 53 CONCACAF ‘D’ Licence qualified coaches. That is a great leap and we are aspiring to have every coach across the country to have the opportunity to develop and to achieve the ‘D’ Licence.”
Meanwhile, GFCA Secretary Dillon Roberts said, “Over the years, the science of the game would have changed, so with the knowledge gained from the ‘D’ Licence, we would be able to put that into practice and better prepare our players,”
He further added, “The Guyana Football Federation and the Coaches Association would have been working together for quite some time now and, going forward, this is vital for the development of coaches.”
