Three members of the 14th Chinese Medical Team were last month awarded the Foreign Link Award, following their participation in Linden’s 18th annual “Race of Cure”, an event to raise cancer awareness.
Vice-captain of the Medical Team, Dr. Wang Feng, who along with three others are currently attached to the Linden Hospital Complex, explained that the race had the support of numerous volunteers from various organisations, including over 40 doctors and nurses from the operating theatre of the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), all of whom took to the streets to raise awareness on breast cancer.
It was noted that at the conclusion of the race, an award ceremony was held which saw the LHC’s “Pink Squad” receiving four awards, including the award for best foreign links, which according to Dr. Feng, represents the support of the locals for the China Medical Team.
“Pink Squad’s parade is the third event the 14th Chinese medical team joined in Linden area during the last four months, after giving health lectures in Mackenzie High School and attending outreach programmes in Kwakwani community. Within one year of their stay, the doctors will continue to actively engage in social activities while providing good health care and treatment to better serve the local residents,” Dr. Feng shared.
