Romario Baljeet, the victim of a recent assault at popular nightclub Palm Court, and who subsequently underwent emergency surgery for internal bleeding, has been discharged from the hospital.
Romario’s father, Ken Baljeet, told Stabroek News that his son, who had already undergone two surgeries for the injuries he sustained during the attack, underwent a third one on Monday after the family noticed there was excessive bleeding from his wounds.
“We woke up and noticed blood on the bedsheets and his towels and after the bleeding would not stop we decided to take him to the Diamond Hospital, where we were then advised to revisit Wood-lands Hospital, where he was initially treated,” the senior Baljeet said.
He went on to explain that doctors at the private hospital advised that his son undergo emergency surgery to determine the source of the bleeding.
After the surgery, Stabroek News was later told that doctors were able to identify and suture two locations where there were signs of internal bleeding. Ken Baljeet has since indicated that his son is expected to return to the hospital today for an evaluation.
Romario Baljeet, 21, called ‘Short Boss,’ of Eccles, East Bank Deme-rara, was allegedly assaulted by businessman Abdul Imran Khan on October 28.
Khan, 32, of 11 Austin Street, Campbellville, has since been charged with attempted murder. He was remanded following an appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan last week.
The charges against Khan came days after a video surfaced of what appeared to be him punching Baljeet vigorously, then kicking him in the abdomen when he fell to the ground. Another video from that night showed a man discharging a firearm in the air. That suspected individual, Abdul’s brother, Safraz Khan, was charged with the offence of discharging a loaded firearm and granted bail.
In a Facebook post several hours after the assault, Baljeet had claimed that his attacker beat him with a gun.
