The calendar has flipped to November, hence boxers are fine tuning their craft to do combat in the Terrence Alli National Open Championships.
News reaching this daily confirmed that the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will be staging the annual year end fixture this Friday at the National Gymnasium.
Bell time will be 19:00hrs nightly and 15 fights are carded for each night for the event which is a prerequisite for selection for the Caribbean Boxing Championships which will be held here next month.
Big names like Keevin Allicock, Colin ‘Superman’ Lewis, Desmond Amsterdam and Jamal Eastman will be lacing up the gloves next weekend.
GDF, the reigning champs of the flagship event of the GBA’s local calendar are expected to be pushed to the hilt by the Republican Boxing Gym, Forgotten Youth Foundation and the Rose Hall Jammers.
There will be the crowning of a new lightweight champion since Joel Williamson has recently turned pro. Already stepping up to fill his shoes is Eastman, the nephew of former world rated boxer, Howard Eastman.
Admission nightly is listed at $1000 for ringside and $500 for stands.
