Dear Editor,
On November 12, I entered the polling station established at the Patentia Secondary School.
As I viewed the symbols of the various political parties on the ballot paper given to me, an inclination not to vote crossed my mind.
I realized that I had lost confidence in all politicians in Guyana.
As I left the polling station my conscience, however, was at peace. I did my duty as a citizen of Guyana. I voted and I realized my vote gave me the right to demand of our politicians less selfishness, arrogance, disrespect for the poor, empty words and more of honesty, official dignity and service, as servants, to this nation.
I stand now, at the age of soon to be over 70, disillusioned with respect to politics and politicians.
Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
