A man allegedly found with 17 grammes of cannabis in his possession after being searched by police at roadblock on the Linden/ Soesdyke High-way, was yesterday remanded by a city court.
It was yesterday alleged that on November 10, 2018, on the Linden/ Soesdyke Highway, Peter Patterson had in his possession 17 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Patterson pleaded not guilty to the offence, which was read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The police prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence.
The facts in relation to the matter stated that on the said date, at about 14:15 hrs, the vehicle in which Patterson was travelling was stopped at a roadblock which had been set up by police. During the exercise, a search was reportedly conducted on Patterson and the substance, suspected to be cannabis, was found in his right pocket.
Patterson was remanded to prison and was told to report to the Linden Magistrate’s Court for his next hearing on November 21.
