Pacesetters secured wins in the 1st and U23 Divisions, when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA] ‘League Championship’ continued on Wednesday at the Burnham Court, Carmichael and Middle Streets.
The home side downed East Coast Demerara unit Plaisance Guardians 70-54. The trio of Nathan Saul, Tafawa Daly and Michael Turner led the way with double figure scores.
Saul rallied 12 points, while Daly and Turner supported with 11 and 10 points respectively. Assisting with eight and seven points each were Clebert Thomas and Stephon Gillis respectively.
Pacesetters was the dominant side for the majority of the clash, as a 15-12 opening quarter set the tone for the contest.
Pacesetters increased their lead in a dominant second quarter, netting 22 points, while restricting Guardians to a meagre 10 points to enter the halftime interval ahead at 37-22.
The lead grew further in the pivotal third stanza, as Pacesetters outscored the visitors 17-13 to head into the final quarter at 54-35.
In the U23 section, Pacesetters crushed University of Guyana [UG] Trojans 56-42. Kashif Liverpool top scored with 10 points, with Troy David the next best scorer on nine points.
Chipping in with eight points were Zion Gray, George Yearwood and Jude Corlette. On the other side, Damani Thomas top scored with 13 points, while Denzil Ross, Jahleel Young and Kadeem Peterkin added eight, six and four points each.
