The third day of the 2018 edition of the Farfan & Mendes Junior Skill level squash tournament saw the ever-improving Nicholas Verwey orchestrating another major win by downing Abosaide Cadogan in straight sets at the Georgetown Club Squash Court, last evening.
Both players came into the match unbeaten; however, it was Verwey who keep his winning streak alive.
Verwey appeared livelier of the two early on and was nimble on his feet as he clinched the first set 11-4.
Nothing much changed in the second set as Verwey collected a 2-0 lead by winning it 11-6.
Cadogan who was surprisingly not on the ball, surrendered the third and final set 11-6 as Verwey kept his perfect run intact.
Meanwhile, Kirsten Gomes rebounded from her five-set defeat the night prior with the hard-fought win over the winless Mohryan Baksh.
Gomes took the first set 11-4 but lost the second 7-11 before closing out the match 11-7, 11-8 to register her first win of the tournament.
Michael Alphonso also played good squash in the category B draw as he closed out another win, this time over Gianni Carpenter whom he downed in straight sets.
Alphonso snatched the first set 11-3 but was evenly matched in the second by Carpenter who managed to tie the set 9-9 before a few unlucky shots landed him on the other side of victory, dropping the second set 9-11. Alphonso then closed out the match with an 11-4 third set win.
