Members of the Guyana Police Force are set for training on noise management.
The forum tomorrow comes amid myriad complaints that the police force does not act promptly on noise nuisance reports from citizens in residential areas. Citizens have also complained that noise offenders are hardly ever prosecuted.
A notice from the Ministry of Public Security said that in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the aim of the training is to build the technical capacity of police officers to respond to noise pollution reports and assist in the court’s prosecution of offenders.
The notice said that the officers will be trained in the areas of the EPA law, nature of evidence and footage for noise nuisance including the use of the decibel noise meter. Public Security Minister, Khemraj Ramjattan will deliver the feature address.
