Dear Editor,
As I close chapters in my life including my attempts to write poems and short stories, I wish to thank my favourite newspaper, Stabroek News, for accommodating my letters including wise decisions when not to publish submissions.
I have on several occasions indicated through letters in the printed media that I intend to cease writing, but I found it difficult to keep my word. The time has come now for me to definitely cease writing while at the same time step out from political inclinations and debates pertaining to religions.
As an aged person I realize that my days are numbered and it is wise to leave the floor of my kind of activities to the young.
The newspaper that attracts my attention daily is the Stabroek News. I remain faithful to it in purchasing and reading it.
As I say goodbye to those who read my pieces and commented from time to time, I must concede that I do so with no regrets on the ground that they will understand that I must down the pen.
I retreat to my childhood propensities reading my comics from 1940 to 1980,playing with toys I was deprived of in my childhood days, listening to songs of the 60s and 70s, doing simple Bible readings and blocking out totally political events, strange to my child’s mindset. Of course, I will seek to give the few students under my current care as a teacher of mathematics, much more.
Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
