Dear Editor,
The SN team must have missed the vicious irony as they produced Page 2 of the print edition on Monday 19 Nov,2018. The story with the bright headline “Auchlyne boy in custody over fatal stabbing of drinking buddy” on another story of alcohol fuelled violence is next to an attractive Christmas Rum Promotion from the Guyana Lottery Company.
Are alcohol sales reducing so that corporate entities feel no sense of responsibility.. is the Lottery company not aware of how many families are afraid of Christmas because of how alcohol generates violence? Can’t the Lottery Company use the money they are spending on alcohol , to let their customers spell LOVE or CHARITY, to give away other food items, care items which are in need by the elderly, plants, flower seeds anything else which can contribute to good health?
Yours faithfully,
Vidyaratha Kissoon
