A father and son were yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of drug trafficking after police said they found just over 10 pounds of ganja at their home.
It is alleged that on November 19th, 2018, at North Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Orin Battersfield, 53, and Quincy Charles, 38, had in their possession 4.55 kilogrammes (equivalent to just over 10 pounds) of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read against them in the Georgetown court of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
According to the prosecution’s case against the men, the police went to their house after receiving certain information and conducted a search of the building and the yard. As a result, leaves, seeds and stems, which appeared to be the narcotics, were found in a plastic bucket about 3 feet away from their home.
The father and son were refused bail and remanded to prison until December 10th, when their next hearing is due to be held.
