A city magistrate yesterday remanded a miner to prison after he was charged with murdering his common-law wife, whose body was discovered buried in a shallow grave near a mining camp on Sunday.
Trevor Anthony Allen, 27, faces a charge which states that between October 1st and November 15th, 2018, at Eyelash Backdam, North West District, he murdered Patricia David.
Allen, a miner, of 412 South Sophia, Field 13, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that the case file was incomplete as the post-mortem report remained outstanding.
Allen was subsequently remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until February 5th, when it is expected to be called at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Police, in a press release, had stated that the decomposed body of David, 23, was discovered last Thursday by investigators in a shallow grave a short distance away from a mining camp where she stayed with the suspect.
