Three teenagers, including two 15-year-olds, were charged yesterday with the murder of a 45-year-old man, whom they are accused of fatally stabbing after he stopped buying drugs from them.
A 19-year-old George-town Public Hospital Corporation attendant and the two younger juveniles were read the joint murder charge at an in-camera hearing that was conducted by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown yesterday.
It is alleged that the three teens on Saturday, November 17th, 2018, at Leopold and Lombard streets, murdered the man, who has only been identified as ‘Buckman.’
The teens were not required to plead to the indictable charge.
While the 19-year-old was remanded to prison, the others were remanded to a juvenile detention centre.
The matter was subsequently adjourned until December 11th.
According to information from the Guyana Police Force, the man, who has only been identified as ‘Buckman,’ was stabbed multiple times around 11 pm at Leopold and Lombard streets. The police said that the man was attacked because he and others reportedly stopped buying drugs from his assailants. After being stabbed, he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
