Fruta Conquerors U20 and the Guyana Police Force [GPF] battled to a scoreless draw when the Georgetown Football Association [GFA] Stag Beer Revival Cup continued yesterday at the Tucville ground.
In an open and fast-paced fixture, both teams were unable to break the deadlock, as poor finishing and dogged defending took the centre stage.
With the result both teams walked away with a point and earned their place in the quarterfinal round. Fruta Conquerors will now oppose Buxton United U20 on Tuesday at the Georgetown Football Club [GFC] ground, Bourda at 18:00hrs.
In the second match of the doubleheader, GPF will take aim at Santos at 20:30hrs. Meanwhile, on Friday at the GFC ground, GFC mauled Western Tigers U20 by a 4-0 score.
Lavaughn Ennis recorded a double in the 60th and 79th minute, while Joel Humphrey and Rickford Edmonson found the back of the net in the 53rd and 90th minute respectively.
On the other hand, newcomer GT Panthers downed Beacons 9-8 on sudden death penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 3-3.
Prior to the marathon penalty shoot-out, S. Daniels, Elroy Parks and G. Singh scored in the 53rd, 64th and 70th minute for the victor, while Michael Peltier, Deon Alfred and Keifer Brandt netted for the loser in the fifth, 21st and 65th minute each.
