Finance Minister Winston Jordan today proposed lifting the income tax threshold to $780,000 per annum or one-third, whichever is greater, with effect from year of income 2019.
This would be an increase from $720,000 per annum or a rise of 8.3%. This would represent a hike from $60,000 to $65,000 per month.
Delivering the 2019 budget today, the minister said that this move to increase workers’ income represents a 30% increase in the threshold since the APNU+AFC government took office in 2015.
