Castrol Volleyball Club last evening, spiked their way to championship honours in the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) ‘B’ division tournament by downing arch-rivals Vanguard Volleyball Club at the National Gymnasium.
It was a relatively easy win for the eventual winners who took the title in straight sets. Castrol’s offence was on point right after the match served off which saw them taking the first set comfortably 25 -11.
The second set produced another dominant showing by Castrol who took it 25-7 before Vanguard put up a much tighter display in the third set which wasn’t enough as they narrowly lost 27 – 29 to land on the other side of success, thereby gifting Castrol the sweep.
The tournament which began on Saturday was organised by the DVA as part of their development effort and also included Glashow Rangers of Linden.
