Repeat offender, Romel Bollers, was yesterday found guilty of robbing a woman of her valuables, and sentenced to three years in prison for the crime.
A city court yesterday found that Bollers, while being in the company of another man, robbed Tanya Drakes of a gold chain valued $80,000 at Agricola, East Bank Demerara.
Bollers had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, which had been read to him by Magistrate Leron Daly in early September. However, after being found guilty at the end of a trial by Magistrate Dylon Bess, he was sentenced to three years imprisonment. At his arraignment, police prosecutor Sanj Singh had noted that the accused is a repeat offender and was previously convicted.
