The Vacuum Pan and Crystalliser from the old Skeldon Factory will be moved to the Albion Factory according to a Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) invitation for bids.
In yesterday’s edition of the Guyana Chronicle, GuySuCo’s Factory Operations Department at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara invited sealed bids for the work.
Sources from the sugar company noted that the move was made since the Albion factory is currently in need of parts. Instead of purchasing new ones, they have decided to reuse the ones that were left at the old Skeldon plant. This was the factory that preceded the new Chinese-built Skeldon factory which has since been closed down.
According to the invitation, the works are divided into seven parts – the dismantling of the #4 Vacuum at the old Skeldon factory, the dismantling of the #1 Crystalliser at the old Skeldon factory, the transportation of the Vacuum Pan and Crystalliser from Skeldon to the Albion Estate, the fabricating of saddles for the Crystalliser, the erection of the Vacuum and Crystalliser, the erecting of the structure for the working platform and the dismantling of the Shear Pole. The duration of the project is set at three months and the bid documents can be purchased for a non-refundable amount of $5,000 from the Materials Management Department at LBI or it can be downloaded from the GuySuCo website at www.guysuco.com.
According to the invitation, site meetings will also be held at the Skeldon and Albion Estates on December 11, 2018 from 10:30 am and 1:30 pm respectively at the entrances to the factories.
The bids must be accompanied by a copy of the Business’ Registration along with valid tax and NIS certificates.
The bids must also be accompanied by a 2% Bid Security that is appropriately marked and delivered to the GuySuCo Headquarters at LBI at Tender Box #10, on or before 2 pm on December 20, 2018.
