Guyanese will be given the opportunity to experience the festive season in a different form when ‘Christ-mas at the Promenade’ is held on December 16; it promises to cater for all categories of Christmas lovers with well-known composer, comedian and singer Dave Martins set to play a big part.
Organisers have promised that the event, set to kick off at 4 pm, will be the “perfect place to begin your Christmas shopping in style, from a superb selection of sellers.”
Patrons, according to a press release, can also indulge themselves “in some seasonal Christmas treats at this festive foodie experience, whilst enjoying the best live music around.”
The experience will kick off with a musical concert and cultural show with Martins and his band and which will also feature many other well-known and celebrated Guyanese singers and performers along with entertaining cultural acts.
Then there is the ‘Merry Market Place’ which, according to the organisers, will offer bargain priced holiday products from Christmas cards, stationery, lights, decorations, ornaments, Christmas tree stands, skirts and other accessories, stockings, wreaths, garlands, gift bags, wrapping paper and supplies and Christmas candy along with holiday party supplies.
And of course, Santa Claus will be in the house and children can their photographs taken with him. There will also be a special zone for the children and this will be “loaded with lots of kids sized fun” inclusive of face painting, bouncy castles and many more activities.
Those who are into eatables can hang out at the ‘Holiday Culinary Treasures’ which will feature booths stocked with the traditional Guyanese food and drink specialties. “The pungent smells of baked products and Christmas cooking, everything to eat from Pepperpot to Black Cake. At the Drinks Station there will be from Ginger Beer, Sorrel, and Mauby to all the popular beverages to quench your thirst,” the organisers promise.
Tickets for this event cost $1,000 and give access to the special concert and entire venue. Tickets can be had at the Real Value Supermarket, Giftland Mall, Bounty Supermarkets, Low’s Service Station and Gizmos and Gadgets.
