Kacey Chapman, the taxi driver who was charged along with two others last week with the unlawful possession of guns and ammunition, was yesterday once again brought before a city court, where he was accused of a carjacking and robbery.
Chapman, it is alleged, on May 22nd, 2018, in Tucville, Georgetown, in the company of another and armed with a gun, robbed Rasheed Pasha of a car valued $1.7 million, a cellular phone, valued $40,000, and a gold chain, valued $200,000 and $20,000 in cash.
Chapman, who was represented by attorney Siand Dhurjon, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer in Georgetown.
Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail based on the prevalence of the offence and because a gun was used during the commission of the crime. The court also heard that Chapman was identified to police by Pasha and the stolen car was in his possession.
Last Thursday, Chapman, Sheldon Andrews and Adam McDonald were jointly charged with having two unlicensed firearms and two sets of ammunition. Chapman was also charged separately with robbery, for which he was remanded to prison.
Chapman was again remanded after the new robbery charge was read to him yesterday. He was told to return to court on January 25th for his next hearing.
