Annandale Secondary handed Lodge Secondary their first loss to date, brushing aside the Jamoon Drive institution 2-0 on Sunday in the GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers U18 Secondary School Football Championship.
Staged at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, first half goals secured the vital three points for the East Coast Demerara unit, who rebounded following their humiliating loss to Wismar/Christianburg in their previous clash.
Junior Ferreira broke the deadlock, as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 22nd minute. The contest was then sealed in the 36th minute, as Omari Glasgow made his presence felt.
Vergenoegen mauled Charlestown 5-1. Ronaldo Macey led the rout with a double in the fourth and 42nd minute. He was assisted by goals from Troy Skeete, Esan Hamer and Brentnol Bobb in the 39th, 47th and 54th minute each.
On the other side, Carlos Agard netted in the 44th minute. Similarly, Uitvlugt downed Queenstown 5-1.
Jaden Edwards bagged a double in the 47th and 63rd minute, while Anthony Benn, Rueben Dainty and Michael McKend scored in the 19th, 55th and 65th minute respectively.
For the loser, Carl Chisolm found the back of the net in the 20th minute. Meanwhile, Linden institution Wismar/Christianburg Secondary defeated St. Rose’s High via walkover.
