The driver of the truck which allegedly struck down and killed 64-year-old Seeram Seecharran last Wednesday morning while he was attempting to cross the Houston Public Road has been released on $100,000 station bail as the investigation continues, Traffic Chief Linden Isles confirmed.
The accident had occurred around 8.45 am last Wednesday after which Seecharran, popularly known as ‘Champion,’ a father of four who resided at Lot 16 Herstelling New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was picked up in an unconscious condition and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Enquiries, this newspaper was told, revealed that the truck, GWW 7629, with trailer TKK 4726, was proceeding north along the western carriageway of the road when Seecharran proceeded to cross the road and ended up in the path of the vehicle.
