The last two boarding (air) bridges for the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri have arrived.
Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Project Manager Carmichael Thorne told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that the boarding bridges are on site and installation will begin over the next two weeks.
“It will take one week for each bridge installation; the foundation is ready for installation after then we’ll begin testing of the bridges. By the end of January everything will be completed,” Thorne said.
The second pair of boarding bridges will be sited alongside the two bridges already in use. According to Thorne, one of the bridges will be placed between the two already installed while the other one will be in the north.
Earlier in the year, the new boarding bridges were tested at CJIA to ensure all systems under the passenger treatment/loading conditions are acceptable, DPI said.
