Dear Editor,
About two years ago the Fire Side Grill and Bar on Garnett Street opened for business. There is an enclosed club and an open yard where food, barbecue and drinks are sold. I live a few doors away from the club.
Every week music is played very loudly disturbing neighbours. Sometimes the music is played until the next morning, at which time customers are drunk and very noisy, using expletives and involved in fights with other customers or employees of the club. Males can be seen urinating on neighbours’ fences and females can be seen in their underwear.
During the August vacation, events were held during the week and pool parties were held on Sunday nights. Fire-trucks from the Guyana Fire Service would come on Sunday mornings and fill the pool.
Now events are held on Saturdays while loud music is still playing during the week. The music would either start early afternoon or early evening. There is no curfew. My question is who gave permission to host such events and play loud music?
Editor there are persons who work, children who go to school, not forgetting the senior folks who are at home. When can they sleep? During these sessions our home vibrates continuously until the music stops. No one can sleep.
This is a residential neighbourhood and this nuisance is unacceptable and unbearable.
Editor can someone advise us on a way forward? Where is the Guyana Police Force, where is the task force for noise nuisance? Or do we have to go to court to get an injunction?
Yours faithfully,
