ANSA McAL Limited Berbice on Friday held their annual Christmas Party where 81 children from orphanages throughout Region Six were treated to lunch, gifts and a fun-filled afternoon.
The programme which started at 5 pm in New Amsterdam, saw children taking part in face painting, dancing, as well as interacting with Santa Claus.
The company’s Managing Director, Troy Cadogan, in a brief interview with Stabroek News explained, that the company in an effort to give back to the community embarked on hosting Christmas parties for underprivileged children in Berbice and Georgetown many years ago. “This is to spread the joy of Christmas with the less fortunate”.
He pointed out, that total of 81 children were present on Friday from all of the orphanages in Region Six.
Additionally, he noted, that the New Amsterdam branch took part for the first time in this specific initiative some eight years ago with 20 children in attendance. “We have expanded and started to bring the kids from the Corentyne”, he said.
Cadogan also stated, that the company is looking to further increase the size of the initiative next year, that is to invite staff children and others.
The company’s Georgetown Christmas party is expected to be held on Wednesday.
Also, Cadogan invited persons to apply, so as to be apart of the team, as he stressed that the company is an ever growing one.
