A 50-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to nine months in jail, after admitting to breaking and entering a house and stealing over $200,000 in articles.
Gregory Simmons, on December 6th, 2018, at Bel-Air Village, broke and entered the house of Mark Trim and stole a total of $255,000 in tools.
Simmons, who is a labourer, pleaded guilty to the charge read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
According to police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, on December 6th, 2018, at about 5:00hrs, Trim woke up and discovered five window panes missing and a door opened. He then checked his apartment and discovered the tools missing. Simmons was apprehended by neighbours in the area, a search was conducted on him and a quantity of tools were found in his possession. He was told of the allegation, to which he admitted, and was arrested for the offence.
“I’m just begging for lil leniency madam”, were Simmons’ words before he received the nine-month jail sentence.
