A half century from Everest Cricket Club’s Ushardiva Balgobin was enough to see his under-17 side hand Malteenoes Sports Club under-17 a 106-run defeat on Saturday at Everest in the Georgetown Cricket Association Friends of Cricket under-17 tournament.
In their first win from five tries, Everest won the toss and elected to bat first, piling on 171-8 in their allotted 47 overs while Malteenoes only managed 65 in 37.3 overs.
Anthony Khan and Varun Mangal fell cheaply to Matthew Jupiter and Akeem Critchlow respectively but Yugishter Persaud and skipper, Raynaldo Mohammed countered with a pair of useful cameos. Persaud faced 59 balls for 23 runs in his watchful innings to set the foundation for Balgobin’s assault.
