A seaman was yesterday remanded to prison following an appearance at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on a charge of trafficking cannabis.
It is alleged that Wasim Moseley, 39, a seaman of Lot 87 CC Eccles, was found in possession of 749 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The court heard that the seaman was arrested on December 10 at Vriesland, West Coast Demerara, following the discovery of the drugs which were wrapped in transparent plastic, in a bag that was around his neck.
Moseley, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
