An East Canje, Berbice, hire car driver was yesterday morning rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after a car struck him along the Sheet Anchor Public Road.
Michael Wilson, 50, of Goed Bananen Land, East Canje, Berbice, was admitted yesterday morning with serious injuries to his head, shoulders, hands and feet.
Stabroek News was told that Wilson was attempting to exit his car, HB 6550 and to cross over the main road at Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice, when he was allegedly struck by a car, bearing licence plate PLL 7562.
According to the man’s brother, James Wilson, his brother attempted to assist a passenger to cross the road when the car struck him. “He was parked behind a vehicle and the guy was transporting a patient to the hospital also and hit him upside down,” James said.
“Thank god he didn’t die instantly and he can now recover. Also the guy who hit him down my sympathy with him because I am a driver also, so I hope they can put him on station bail so he can go home with his family,” he added.
The driver was held for questioning by police, who are investigating.
