Dear Editor,
The Editorial “Oil and national cohesiveness” (SN, 14th December 2018) serves to remind us that National Cohesion is not being achieved because of politicians’ ambiguity towards it.
The problem rests squarely with the politicians. It is they who must set a good example. This is why I am asking the PPP/C Opposition to withdraw the no-confidence motion against the APNU+AFC Government of President David Granger.
Should the PPP/C Opposition win this motion all that it will serve to do is to bring down the APNU+AFC Government resulting in an early election (which by the way is only one year and a bit away). This will then result in people hardening their “political stance” with Guyana going politically and socially unstable.
Should the PPP/C Opposition lose the no-confidence motion then it would be an embarrassing defeat for the Opposition.
The no-confidence motion sounds more like tit-for-tat politics to me.
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
