Just days after he was granted bail after being accused of stealing a friend’s cellphone, a youth was remanded to prison by a city court on an allegation of robbery.
Isaiah Daniels, 21, was released on $2,000 bail last Friday after he was accused of stealing a $48,000 cellphone from Jamal Barker. The accused was ordered by the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, to compensate Barker for the phone.
However, on Friday, Daniels was remanded to prison after he was accused of robbing Davindra Lakhram of $167,000 worth of personal items, inclusive of another phone. The robbery allegedly occurred on December 9, in Georgetown. The accused was also said to have been aided by a number of accomplices.
Daniels pleaded not guilty to the charge but was denied bail and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly, after she learnt that he had a pending matter set for December 14.
The next scheduled date for the robbery hearing is January 18, 2019.
